- 1 tsp vanilla extract

- Dark chocolate shavings or curls

Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans
- In a bowl, mix flour
, sugar
, cocoa powder
, baking powder
, baking soda
, and salt
- Add eggs
, buttermilk
, oil
, and vanilla extract
. Mix until smooth
- Gradually add boiling water
, mixing until thin batter forms
- Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean
- Let the cakes cool completely
- Whip heavy cream

, and vanilla extract
to soft peaks
- Slice the cakes in half horizontally. Layer with whipped cream, cherries
, and more cream in between
- Frost the outside of the cake with whipped cream and decorate with chocolate shavings
