Black Forest Cake Christmas

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour 🌾
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar 🍬
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 🍫
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder 🍰
  • 1 tsp baking soda 🍞
  • 1/2 tsp salt 🧂
  • 2 large eggs 🥚
  • 1 cup buttermilk 🥛
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil 🌻
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract 🍦
  • 1 cup boiling water 💧
  • 1 jar (24 oz) dark cherries in syrup 🍒
  • 2 cups heavy cream 🍶
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar 🍬
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract 🍦
  • Dark chocolate shavings or curls 🍫

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans

  2. In a bowl, mix flour 🌾, sugar 🍬, cocoa powder 🍫, baking powder 🍰, baking soda 🍞, and salt

  3. Add eggs 🥚, buttermilk 🥛, oil 🌻, and vanilla extract 🍦. Mix until smooth

  4. Gradually add boiling water 💧, mixing until thin batter forms

  5. Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean

  6. Let the cakes cool completely

  7. Whip heavy cream 🍶, powdered sugar 🍬, and vanilla extract 🍦 to soft peaks

  8. Slice the cakes in half horizontally. Layer with whipped cream, cherries 🍒, and more cream in between

  9. Frost the outside of the cake with whipped cream and decorate with chocolate shavings 🍫 and extra cherries 🍒
